John Lee Sowell Sr. Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Lee Sowell Sr. of Marshall, North Carolina, who passed away on November 11, 2025 at the age of 88. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John Lee Sowell Sr. to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorch Lee Sowell and Susie Laney Sowell; his wife Carol Sowell; and his siblings, Gilliam Sowell and Ann Louise Sowell.
He is survived by: his son John Lee Sowell, Jr. (Stacia); his grandchildren, Shelly Chandler (Jeremy) and Cassy Bass (Paul); his great grandchildren, Cason, Noah, Lane and Bailey; his siblings, Billy Frank Sowell (Donna) and Betty Cauthen; and his sister-in-law Marcine Sowell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Burgess Funeral Home (1800 Charlotte Hwy, Lancaster, SC 29720). A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 16th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home (1800 Charlotte Hwy, Lancaster, SC 29720). A burial will be held on Sunday, November 16th 2025 at the Lancaster Memorial Park (1389 Memorial Park Rd, Lancaster, SC 29720).
