He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Kent and Ora Blankenship Kent; his wife Dorothy "Dottie" Kent; and his brothers, Wayne, Grover and Donald Kent.
He is survived by: his children, Chris Kent (Lisa) and Debbie Kent King (Tom); his siblings, Wilson Kent (Ann), Ronnie Kent (Nancy) and Janet Powell (Jim); his grandchildren, Rebekah Dove (Tim), Michael King, Brianna Kent, Bryson Kent, Brinley Kent and Kirsten Cochran; and his great grandchildren, Hunter King, Blake King and Jayden Kent. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Calvary Worship Center (101 Calvary Dr, Marshall, NC 28753). A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Hickam Cove Cemetery.
