He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold "Austin" Rice and Dorothy Chandler Rice; his granddaughters, Lauren and Kimberly Cantrell; his sister Doris Rice; his sister-in-law Debbie Rice; and his parents-in-law, Ernest and Margie Chandler.
He is survived by: his wife Judith Rice; his daughter Myra; his son-in-law Marty Cantrell; his grandchildren, Caitlyn Boggs (Zachary) and Cassidy Cantrell; his great grandchildren, Della Jane Hancock and Ezekial Blaine Boggs; and his siblings, Shirley Jean White (Joe), Jo Francis Woodard, Aliene Rice, Donna Rice, Gloria Rice, Skovel Rice, Winzo Rice (Mary) and Basil Rice. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Madison Funeral Services (1750 NC-213, Marshall, NC 28753). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home or directly to the family to assist in final expenses.
