He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Wilson Hargett and Maggie McCorkle Hargett; his wife Sylvia Gibson Hargett; and his brother Gary Hargett (Libby). He is survived by: his children, Robin Denise Hargett and Mitch Hargett (Pat); his grandchildren, Jeff Sherrin (Mariya), Kristina Hargett Stroud (Daniel), Matt Witmore (Dusti) and Jeromy Witmore (Jess); his great grandchildren, Makenzi Sherrin, Astrid Sherrin, Aisley Sherrin, Conor Stroud, Murphy Stroud, Sammy, Declan Witmore, Gracie Witmore, JT Witmore (Sierra) and Scarlett Young; and his great great grandchild Ember Witmore. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Bethel Baptist Church (2317 Landsford Rd, Marshville, NC 28103).
