He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Timothy Owens and Alice Cribb Owens; his son Jay Owens; and his sisters, Anna Holden, Tenny Bailey, Eleanor Godsil and Sylvia Taylor.
He is survived by: his wife Willie Powers Owens; his daughters, Roxanne Birkmaier (Bob) and Julie Brinkley; and his grandchildren, Ashley Birkmaier Jackson (Johnny), Bradley Birkmaier, Anthony Brinkley, Dante, Hakeem and Michael. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
