He was predeceased by: his parents, Theron Carnes and Jennie Broom Carnes; his wife Ella Jeannne "Jean" Farris Carnes; and his sons, Walter Vachel Carnes Jr. and David Lane Carnes.
He is survived by: his daughter Susan Michelle Carnes; and his granddaughter Kristen.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Marshville City Cemetery (917 N Elm St, Marshville, NC 28103).
