It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Wade Chavis of Marston, North Carolina, who passed away on November 2, 2025, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his father William Henry Owens; his children, George Clark, Jr., Tonya Locklear and Jennifer Easterling; and his brother James Archie Owens.
He is survived by: his mother Vergie Chavis Owens of Laurinburg; his wife Melissa Prevatte Chavis; his children, Carey Locklear of Pembroke, Timothy Currie of Hamlet, Kellie Chavis of Laurinburg, Kandida Chavis (Chris) of Rowland, Rebecca Herndon of Laurinburg and Brittany Stewart of West End; his father-in-law Thomas Tharpe of Hamlet; his siblings, Richard Owens of McColl, SC and Lizzie O. Chavis of Laurinburg; and his grandchildren, Christopher Driggers, Brandon Driggers, Nathan Chavis, Nolan Chavis, Nalyn Chavis, Kanslee Kade Collins, Kanon Collins, McKenzie Herndon, Cadan Easterling, Melissa Currie, Victor Pankey, Walter Pankey and Madeline Stewart.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel (13640 Andrew Jackson Hwy, Laurinburg, NC 28352). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 7th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, November 7th 2025 at the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
