He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert H. C. Lovett and Florence Finch Lovett; and his brother Robert Lovett. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Champion Lovett; his pet Winnie; his sister Maureen Lovett; his sibling's children, Mark Halley, Laura Halley (Kris Morris) of Canada and Stephen Lovett; and his cousins, Will, Helen Ellis (family: David, Heather Ellis, Andy, Margaret Gaze), Barbara Ellis, Eileen Macchi, Terry Stamp (family: Barbara Pyatte, Linda Champion, Todd, Julia Ligon), Steve, Tina Ligon (Jarrod), Lee, Becca Champion (Paul), Brad and Sherry Champion (Sophie).

A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel (7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alan's honor to Grace Crossing Baptist Fellowship.
