He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Sims and Annie Hinson Sims; his sons, Paul and Scott; and his close friends, Caleb and Lorraine Barnhart.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth; his son Barry Sims (Angie) of Stallings; his grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, Jonathan, DeLane (Jesse), Meredith (Cody), Chandler and Riley; and his great grandchildren, Haylee, Katelynn, Ava, Lilly, Willow and Amelia.
