She was predeceased by: her parents, James Robert "J. R." Ellis and Joyce Gouge Ellis. She is survived by: her husband Gary Walter; her children, Clynt Walter (Amber) and Katie Turner (Robert); her grandchildren, Jillian, Jocelyn, William, Alyssa and Michael; her brother Bobby Ellis (Debbie); her niece Jennifer Ford (Stephen); and her nephew Joseph Ellis (Nikki).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Union County, whose compassionate care supported Diane and her family during her final days.
