She is survived by: her son Kenneth Smith of Charlotte, NC; her siblings, Joe Leadmon, Allen Leadmon of Hurricane, WV and Linda Hull of Culloden, WV; and her great grandchildren, Jordyn King and Shiloh King of Charlotte, NC..
Throughout her career, Gay made significant contributions to the workplace, having worked in the business office at C & O Railroad and later serving as the office manager for the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance office in Charleston, West Virginia.
