She was predeceased by: her parent Author Edwin Oates; and her brothers, William Oates and Johnny Oates. She is survived by: her children, Derek Stepp (Heather) and Kadi Moffitt (Mark Laquihon); and her grandchildren, Olivia Stepp, Stella Stepp, Declan Moffitt and Landry Moffitt.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St Michael the Archangel Anglican Church (2211 Margaret Wallace Rd, Matthews, NC 28105).
