She was predeceased by: her parents, Berk Deese (Lincy Deese) and Myrtle Deese; her husband Eugene Brooks; her siblings, Robert "Buddy" Deese, Gladys Locklear, Carol Sampson, Callie Mae Oxendine, Marilyn "Jewel" Deese, Wilma Dial and Cynthia Deese; and her grandsons, Quentin Strickland and Matthew Kevin Locklear.
She is survived by: her brothers, Simeon Deese "Chub", Samuel Deese, Steve Deese and Bill Deese; her daughters, Sherry Brooks, Rita Lossman and Brenda Locklear; and her grandchildren, Shanolyn Locklear, Clay Locklear, Mark Locklear, Brooke Gonzalez, Gwen Locklear and Taylor Locklear. She is also survived by her children, grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel (13640 Andrew Jackson Hwy, Laurinburg, NC 28352). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 at the White Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
