He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee S. Chavis and Alice Lambert Chavis; and his siblings, Harold Dean Chavis, Curley Chavis, William Chavis, Michael Chavis, Brenda Joyce Dial and Brenda Faye Coverdale.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Sue Chavis; his daughters, Heather Chavis-Bell (William) and Alicia Chavis; his grandsons, William Russell Bell Jr., Ayden Cole Bell and Mason Wayne Bell; and his siblings, Lee S. Chavis Jr. of Maxton, NC, Jimmy Dean Chavis (Jolene) of Rennert, NC, Ava Scott and Alice Dale Locklear (Don). He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 4th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Light of Truth Holiness Church (2589 Oxendine School Rd, Maxton, NC 28364). A funeral service was held on Sunday, October 4th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
