The memory of Blanche May Abernathy of McAdenville, North Carolina, who passed away on November 16, 2025 at the age of 95, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel Winston May and Callie Crews May; her son Joseph D. Abernathy, Jr.; and her siblings, Vivian May Sapp and Clyde H. May.
She is survived by: her children, Elizabeth A. Craig (Mike) and John Samuel Abernathy (Dixie); her sisters, Dorothy May Brown and Hazel May Emmerling; her grandchildren, James Daniel Craig (Katie), Anna Craig Swanek (Carson), John Samuel Abernathy, Jr., Rachel Rebekah Abernathy, Jordan Elizabeth Abernathy, Baylee Abernathy and Jacob Abernathy; and her great grandchildren, Lillian Elizabeth, Graham Michael Swanek and Harper Elizabeth Craig. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Gaston Memorial Park (1200 S New Hope Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054). Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia (700 S New Hope Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054).
