She was predeceased by : her father Earlie Ingold; her husband Thomas Wade Payne; her son Michael Lee Payne; and her sister Martha Pickard. She is survived by : her children, James W. Payne (Dale McCanless), Thomas E. Payne (Toni), Susan Payne Adams (Chip) and Jeffery L. Payne (Susan); and her brother Robert "Bobby" Ingold (Linda). She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church at 5120 Burlington Rd, Greensboro, NC 27405, or Apple's Chapel Christian Church at 7345 NC 61 N, Gibsonville, NC 27249.

“Lucille was a very dear friend to me. I remembered her saying to me when the Brown Opera shut down, I guess we will have to put on our boots and go to the moon, I laugh and will always remember her saying that. She was a beautiful women inside and out. My condolence to her family. Sara Johnson”
