He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin H. Dawson and Catherine O. Dawson; and his brothers, Marvin Dawson II and Carl Dawson. He is survived by: his wife Carol Turner Dawson; his children, Andrea Adams (Kenneth), Elizabeth Lipscomb, Joseph Underwood (Kelly), Larry Underwood (Tara) and J. C. Underwood (Brandy); and his sister Martha McIntosh (Glenn). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made in his honor to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College Street Oxford NC 27565.
