He is survived by: his wife Penny Bartis Butler; his children, Stephany Butler Thomas (Scott) and Yonnie Dean Butler (Judy); and his grandchildren, Katie Lynn Thomas, Heather Thomas Guthrie (Luke), John James "Jamie" Joseph, II (Rachel) and Jordan Joseph Henderson (Justin). He is also survived by eight loving great-grandchildren.
