With sadness, we share the passing of Darlene Dorton Rushing of Midland, North Carolina. Darlene passed away on August 15, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Martin Lee Dorton and Eva Virginia Stilwell Dorton; her siblings, Barbara, Dwayne and Robert; and her nephew Scotty.

She is survived by: her husband Thomas Earl "Tom" Rushing Sr.; her children, Martin Thomas Rushing of Albemarle, Melody Shea Rushing Modlin of Albemarle, Thomas Earl "Tommy" Rushing Jr. of Midland, Karen Rushing Baucom (David) of Wadesboro, Angela Gene Rushing of Midland and Ray Treadway of Georgia; her siblings, Wanda Hagler of Norwood, Howard Dorton (Lela) of Oakboro and Hugh Dorton (Diane) of Texas; her grandchildren, Montana, Kendall, Zak, Sydney, Gavin, Hunter, Tiffany, Patricia, Tyler, Brooke, Cody, Jasmin and Madison; and her pet Peanut. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a liver or kidney foundation of the donor's choice.
