He was predeceased by : his parents, Floyd Richard Deaton and Wilma Cooper Deaton; his son Ronnie Lee Hedgecoe; and his siblings, Richard Deaton, Cecil Deaton, Michael Deaton, Kenneth Deaton, Betty Austin, Brenda Wilson, Deborah Deaton and Joann Evans.

He is survived by : his son Doug; his wife Karen Darlene Criswell Deaton of Midland, NC; his sons, Douglas Deaton (Mandy) of Indian Trail, NC and Gregory Deaton (Heather) of Midland, NC; his grandchildren, Alex Hedgecoe (Stephenie), Jacob Hedgecoe, Joseph Hedgecoe, Lily Deaton, Ella Deaton, Ronnie Deaton and Blakelyn Deaton; his great grandchildren, Jackson Hedgecoe and Luke Hedgecoe; and his brothers, Steve Deaton, Phil Deaton, Tommy Deaton and Donald Deaton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
