He was predeceased by : his parents, Mallie Oncie Burgess Sr. and Bertie Lee Cochrane Burgess; and his brothers, Horace Odell Burgess and O. Burgess, Jr.. He is survived by : his wife Alice Faye Mingus Burgess of Concord, NC; his children, Robin Burgess Pope (Randy) and Bobby Burgess (Kathe); his grandchildren, Lacey Burgess Hatley (Jonathan), Ashlee Burgess Poplin (Brandon), Haley Burgess, Tiffany Pope, Teniah Pope Howell (Travis), Carley, Chloe, Curtis, Cecily and Claire Pope; his great grandchildren, Caroline, Olivia, Waylon Hatley, Bentley and Hayden Poplin; and his niece Pam Burgess Porter. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
