He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny Coiet and Eva Phillips Dyer; his wife Annie Ruth Dyer; and his brother-in-law Jerry Spears. He is survived by: his children, Lesa Bilodeau (Kevin) of North Wilkesboro, Sandy Bell (Ray Madden) of Millers Creek and Michael Dyer of Millers Creek; his grandchildren, Michael A. Dyer, Joshua Bilodeau, Katie Royal (Jody), Dylan Bilodeau (Caroline), Noah Bilodeau and Charlotte Dyer; his great grandchildren, Jediah Royal, Hagen Royal, Penelope Bilodeau and Benjamin Bilodeau; his siblings, Linda Spears of Wilkesboro and Allen Dyer (Audrey) of Wilkesboro; and his friends, Pattie, Mike Bumgarner and Maria Greene.
