He was predeceased by: his parents, Miller "Gene" Newton and Ellen Shu Freeman "Jakie" Newton; and his grandparents, Minna Belle Thompson Shu "Belle" and Rufus Allen Shu "Bub". He is survived by: his wife Violet Blanchard Newton; his daughters, Denise Newton and Jennifer Newton; his grandchildren, Luke Russ, Blake Russ and Jacqueline Bellorin; and his pets, Peewee and Dolly.
