We announce the death of Peggy Cathey Shaw of Mint Hill, North Carolina, who passed away on August 16, 2026, at the age of 87. Peggy will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Peggy’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William A. Cathey, Jr. and Pauline S. Cathey. She is survived by: her husband Don; her children, Stan Shaw (Penny) of Shelby, NC, Jeff Shaw (Celah) of Norwood, NC and Kimberly Waters (Doug) of Greenville, SC; her grandchildren, Angelica, Spencer, Sarah, Ashlynn and Ainsley; and her brother William Cathey (Edna) of Indian Trail, NC.. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, August 22nd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (13925 Thompson Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227). A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 22nd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
