He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Betty Boaz Bold; his children, Mark Thomas Bold and Michelle Diane Williams (James Monroe Williams); his stepchildren, Tamatha Noel Howard (Charles "Chip" Howard) and Mark Eric Workman (Hope Workman); his grandchildren, Sierra Noel Howard, Luke Barton Howard and Alise Balleine Howard; and his brother Michael Joseph Bold.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region and to Morning Star Lutheran Church Youth Group.

“We had lost touch after he and Betty moved to NC. Lottie & I cherished his sincere and sweet friendship, his incredible will and drive to give to others, and most of all his sense of humor. They were a model couple to us when my wife & i met, and i have tried hard to model his behavior as a loving servant and partner ever since.
