He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Sanford and Ellie Hollar Howell; and his siblings, Coleen Dull, Maxine Hodgson and Harley Howell.

He is survived by: his wife Julia Marie Allen Howell; his children, Kenneth Wayne Howell, Jr. (Kris) of Mocksville, Vicki Howell Wilkinson (Eddie) of Advance, Susan Howell Blass (Jesse) of Clemmons and Kevin Sanford Howell (Suzy) of Clemmons; his grandchildren, Tiffany Howell, Kendra Howell, Erien Barr (Tony), Brooke Dull (Chad), Clint Howell (Haley), Logan Seaford (Tyler), Ashlyn Blass, Bailey Bacorn (Hunter), Zachary Howell, Jackson Howell (Macy Presnell) and Max Howell; his great grandchildren, Mack, Kenny, Addie, Nathan, Charlie, Tate, Aspen, Sutton and Blakely; his brothers, Harry Lee Howell (Marlene) of Harmony and Gary Howell (Glenda) of Mocksville; and his sister-in-law Betty Howell of Advance. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
