He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Smith and Ruby Pinion Smith; and his son-in-law Joe Black. He is survived by: his brother Roy Wayne; his wife Becky; his children, David (Linda) and Cathy Black (Joe); his grandchildren, Michael Black (Amanda), Chris Black (Morgan), Stephen Black (Mallory), Sara Smith Lail (Cody) and Daniel Smith (Hannah); his great grandchildren, Carson Black, Emilee Black, Caden Black, Mason Black, Caroline Black, Summer Black, Harper Lail, Davis Lail, Graham Lail and Peter Smith; and his brothers, Donald and James. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 26th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at the Benton's Cross Roads Baptist Church (109 E Lawyers Rd, Unionville, NC 28110). A burial was held on Tuesday, August 26th 2025 at 12:45 PM at the Benton's Cross Roads Baptist Church (109 E Lawyers Rd, Monroe, NC 28112). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, August 26th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
