He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Bryan Tyson and Margarette Berniece Neill Tyson of Union County; and his sister Peggy O'Neil Tyson Straitiff. He is survived by: his wife Trina Holt Tyson; his children, Bryan Lee Tyson (Kimberly B.) of Charlotte and Dr. Julia A. Tyson Snyder (Blaine J., II) of Trade; his nephew William "Billy" Pierce Straitiff Williams of Monroe; and his grandchildren, Alice Tyson, Audrey Tyson, Adam Tyson, Trina Tyson and Mary Tyson.
A reception was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory (1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112).
