He is survived by: his father Cleo Haven Johnson; his wife Jean Whitaker Johnson; his daughter Catherine Elizabeth "Beth" Luebbert; his brother Phillip Johnson (Margaret); his granddaughters, Macie Luebbert and Mary Ellis Luebbert; his sister-in-law Sandra Shaw; his nieces, Michelle Bollinger and Jennifer Griffin; his nephew Wes Shaw (Terry); and his caregivers, Darrell Woodwiss, Lisa Staton and Erica Helms.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Prospect Southern Methodist Church, 6020 Prospect Rd, Monroe, NC 28112.
