He is survived by: his wife Carol Long Whelchel; his brother John Whelchel of Boca Raton, FL; and his children, Michael Whelchel (Judith) of Ashville, NC, John Mears (Susan) of Sorrento, FL, Debbie Yero (Efren) of Sanford, FL, Linda Welker (Jeff) of Lake Mary, FL, Cindy McDaniel (Peter) of Lake Mary, FL and Julie Davis of Monroe, NC.. He is also survived by his sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
