He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Lee Bell and Hattie Steele Davis; his wife Frances Tyson Davis; his son Daniel Thomas Davis; and his siblings, Ray (Brenda), Doris Thurman (Jim), Ruth Patterson (Don), Vivian and Jerry (Jean). He was also cherished by nine nieces and nephews.
