She was predeceased by: her parents, J. E. Waits and Ruth Waits; and her sister Johnnye Pelfrey. She is survived by: her husband Don Helms; her sister Dora Lee Catoe; her children, Robby Helms, Amy Tomberlin and Teresa Beverley; her grandchildren, Kristen Daily, Brooke Tomberlin, Alek Harwell, Joshua Kelly and Jacob Kelly; and her close friend Judy Snyder. She is also survived by her five great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers she wished that donations be made in her name to The American Heart Association.
