He was predeceased by: his parents, Reece Carter and Mary Baker Carter; his brother Kenneth Carter; and his sister-in-law Lorretta Carter. He is survived by: his wife Geraldine "Deane" Carter; his children, Jason Carter (Cherie), Deana McIntosh (Brian) and Kayla Carter (Katherine); his stepchildren, Travis Moser (Briana) and Amy York (Steve); his siblings, Bill Carter (Mary) and Debra Carter; his grandchildren, Emerson Carter, Kenzie Carter, Zoe McIntosh, Camden Deese and Trenton York; and his great grandchild Sadie York. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery (1901 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112).
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Atrium Health Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28110.
