With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Hazel Starnes Mangum (Monroe, North Carolina), who passed away on November 17, 2023 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawson Lee and Virgie McCoy Starnes; and her husband R. B. Mangum. She is survived by: her daughters, Debra Funderburk (late Marion Funderburk) of Wesley Chapel, NC and Iris Whiteside (Lee) of Wilmington, NC; her grandson Dr. H. L. Whiteside III (Trey) of Nashville, TN; her children, Renee Rodgers of Mineral Springs, NC, Mike, Debbie Easley of Monroe, NC, Tara Purser of Unionville, NC and Morgan Black of Monroe, NC.; her siblings, Lonnie Ray Starnes (Kay) of Latta, SC and Janie Helms (Joe) of Monroe, NC; and her sisters-in-law, Shelby Starnes of Wesley Chapel, NC and Lenell Hamilton of Monroe, NC.
