She was predeceased by: her husband Curtis Wayne Starnes; and her parents, Travis Shelton Smith and Della Kate Funderburk Smith. She is survived by: her children, Derwin Starnes (Christie Starnes) of Monroe and Matrell Grismer (Tim Grismer) of Monroe; her siblings, Ted Smith (Fairis Smith) of Monroe and Donnie Ledbetter of Monroe; her grandchildren, Dane Grismer (Kathleen Grismer) and Sarah Starnes (Jackson Hardister); and her great grandchildren, John Grismer, Luke Grismer and Keiran Grismer.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe (204 S Main St, Monroe, NC 28112). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel.
