He was predeceased by: his parents, William Sidney Shannon and Lucille Gordon Shannon; and his siblings, Mildred Lowery (Tom), Bruce Shannon (Mary), Dorothy Fowler (Henry), Mary Shannon Crisp (Bob) and Martha Shannon Broome (Buddy).
He is survived by: his wife Bobbi Trull Shannon; his daughter Miriam Shannon Plyler; his grandsons, Alan Plyler Jr., Will Plyler (Sydney) and Brad Plyler; his great grandchildren, Kinsley and Sophia; and his stepdaughter Amy Burris (Robert). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends.
