She is survived by: her husband Charles "Ed" Moss; her children, Ben Moss (Katie) and Laura Thornton; her niece Heather Junker; her grandchildren, Logan Moss, Aiden Moss, Anna Thornton, Shawn Thornton and Lucas Thornton; and her close friends, Abbie Kerr and Cynthia Sopata.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the state, she was honored with the prestigious Order of the Long Leaf Pine by Governor Mike Easley.
