He was predeceased by: his parents, Billy Austin Sims and Madeline Newell Sims; his siblings, Billy Ray Sims, Jerri Lynn Winchester Sims and Sandi Sims Whitley; and his wife Margaret Crockett Sims.
He is survived by: his children, Amy Sims Gregory (David Gregory) and Larry Keith Sims Jr. (Cheryl Lynn Sims); his granddaughter Bailey Sims Mize (Jeremy Mize); his stepgrandson Justin Gregory (Kacey); his siblings, Ricky Newell Sims (Belinda Sims) and Sherri Sims Springs; and his sister-in-law Elaine Sims. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other beloved family members.
