He was predeceased by: his parents, John Howard and Edna Fox Byrd; and his brother Gordon Hugh Byrd. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Platter Byrd; his children, Patricia Medlin (Kevin), Mickey Byrd (Karen) and Christina Helms (Daron); and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Carson Medlin, Austin Helms and Michael Byrd.
