He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Eli Starnes and Annie Clawson Starnes. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Simpson Starnes; his children, Scott Reece Starnes (Susan) of Raleigh, NC and Caroline Starnes Rhodes (Jeff) of Rock Hill, SC.; his grandchildren, Alexander Reece Starnes (Liza) of Raliegh, NC, Halle Rhodes Moss (Cody) of Rock Hill, SC and William Scott Rohodes of Rock Hill, SC; and his great grandchild Reece Nottingham Starnes.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM at the Family Life Center (1716 Carmel Church Rd, Monroe, NC 28112). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church (5300 Nesbit Rd, Waxhaw, NC 28173). After working for 70 years, Reece retired in March 2020 during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The family requests memorials be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
