He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Sherill Whitley and Mary York Whitley; his brothers, James Sherill Whitley, Lloyd Eugene Whitley and Roy Lane Whitley; and his great grandchild Colten Baucom.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Baucom Whitley; his children, William Eric Whitley (Farideh Sehat), Brian Scott Whitley (Laura) and Gloria Whitley Keziah; and his sisters, Brenda Whitley Hamilton and Jane Whitley Baucom. He is also survived by Seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
