She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Capretta and Mary Capretta (Waite); her sister Susan McClellan; and her brother-in-law Richard McClellan. She is survived by: her husband John Hess; her children, Sara Hogan (Tim), Jonathan Hess (Holly), Christopher Hess (Karen) and Benjamin Hess (Kristin); her grandchildren, Ryan Hogan and Sydney Swartz; her great grandchild Riley; her grandchildren, Abigail Hogan, Emily Hogan, William Hess, Nicholas Hess, Gemma Hess and Lucca Hess; and her siblings, Teresa Carpenter (Jeff), Robert Capretta (Carol), Philip Capretta (Sue) and Martha Smith (Craig). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Relief Services' urgent relief program for families affected by conflict in the Holy Land or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
