He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Witherspoon and Hazel Jackson Witherspoon; his wife Elizabeth Morrow Witherspoon; his siblings, Tommy, Bobby, Billy Witherspoon, Irene Huffman and Mamie Lee Witherspoon; and his son-in-law Aaron Barnhardt.
He is survived by: his children, James Witherspoon (Pam), Julia Barnhardt, Beth Wright (David) and Alma Wilson (Patrick); his brother Floyd Witherspoon (Phyllis); his grandchildren, Steven Barnhardt, Jason Barnhardt (Brittany), Michael Wright, James Wright (Mandy), Trey Blackman and J. Witherspoon; and his great grandchildren, Allison Wright, Daisy Solono, Brooklyn Barnhardt, Camden Barnhardt and Cody Blackman. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
