He was predeceased by: his father John David Mongold; and his grandson Gavin Riley McKinley Mongold. He is survived by: his mother Betty Sue Cregger Mongold of North Wilkesboro; his daughter Erica Momb (Kyle) of Moravian Falls; his grandson JJ Mitchell; his siblings, Lisa Blevins of North Wilkesboro and Robby Mongold of North Wilkesboro; his nieces, Jessica Mongold of North Wilkesboro and Angel Church of North Wilkesboro; his great-niece Kyee Miller of North Wilkesboro; and his great-nephew Cole Shumate of North Wilkesboro.
