It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Glenn Smithey of Moravian Falls, North Carolina, who passed away on May 9, 2026, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his mother Edith Smithey; his wife Ethel Broyhill Smithey; and his son Larry Glenn Smithey. He is survived by: his daughter Diane Edsel of Boomer; his stepdaughter Linda Lineback (Ed) of Boomer; his grandchildren, Kris Smithey (Karen) of Purlear, Wayne Edsel (Amy) of Wilkesboro and Deonna Triplett (Vaughn) of Boomer; his great grandchildren, Matthew Triplett (Caitlyn) of North Wilkesboro, Leah Johnson (Blake) of North Wilkesboro, Bailey Barrineau (Daniel) of Jacksonboro, Abby Smithey (Cam) of Purlear, Emma Smithey of Purlear and Alexis Edsel (Pedro) of Moravian Falls; and his siblings, Shirley Minton of North Wilkesboro and Dave Eller of North Wilkesboro. He is also survived by eight great great grandchildren.
