Though his name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Abbot leaves upon the hearts of his loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of his spirit and the richness of his legacy.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Roberta McClintic, and William McClintic, Jr.; his wife Beth McClintic; his child Abbot McClintic, Jr. (Katie); his granddaughter Ann Pate; his daughter Caroline Flannery (Gary); his grandchildren, Whit and Charlotte; and his brother Will McClintic (Stuart). He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Friday, December 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Christ Church (120 E Edenton St, Raleigh, NC 27601).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the UNC Interstitial Lung Disease Fund.
