We announce the death of Laura Gray of Morehead City, North Carolina, who passed away on July 26, 2026, at the age of 93. Laura will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her former husband Carl E. Gray; her parents, Ben Heise and Lilly Heise; her siblings, Barbara Lamb (Charlie), Buck Heise (Sarah) and Billy Heise; and her great grandchild Alexa Bailey.
She is survived by: her children, Tim Dawson (Deborah) of New Bern, NC, Paula Johnson (Mike) of St. Petersburg, FL, Ed Dawson (Brenda) of Columbus Ohio, Tom Dawson (Karole) of Largo, FL, Ellen Henderson (Bill) of Raleigh, NC, Amy Currin (Rodney) of Indian Beach, NC and Dan Howard (Liz) of Rochester, NY.; her siblings, Jim Heise (Vinita) and Polly Greene (Delmas); her friend Claire Painter of Beaufort, NC; and her husband Marvin Dawson. She is also survived by her fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
