He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Dottermusch and Louise Dottermusch; his sister Ruth Louise Gerding; and his brothers-in-law, Walter Madden and Ervin Gerding.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Dottermusch of Durham, NC; his sons, Richard J. Dottermusch (Cheryl) of North Potomac, MD and Andrew Dottermusch of Rehoboth Beach, DE; his granddaughters, Megan Leigh Susskind (Jeffrey) of Chevy Chase, MD and Kaitlyn E. Fordyce (Cyrus) of Gaithersburg, MD; his great grandchildren, Spencer Rose Susskind and Sloane Avery Susskind of Chevy Chase, MD; and his stepdaughters, Brittany White (Chuck) of Durham, NC and Charleigh Barnes (Evan) of Pittsburgh, PA..
