He was predeceased by: his parents, John Vick Mooring and Mary Ezzell Mooring; his son Mark Mooring; and his siblings, Ray Mooring, Durwood Mooring, Helen Aycock, Charles Mooring, John "Pete" Mooring, Harold Mooring and Dan Mooring.

He is survived by: his wife Delores Lancaster Mooring; his children, Rhonda Keefer (Gary), Andrea Beth Pender (Dean) and Kevin Whitfield; his grandchildren, Aaron Keefer (Jessica), Chad Keefer and Lainey Overton; and his siblings, William "Bill" Mooring, Richard Mooring and Wilma Monson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family kindly requests donations be made to the Carteret County Partnership for Children in memory of Ronald Eugene Mooring – 3328 Bridges St. #A Morehead City, NC 28557.
