Steven leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Steven’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Steven will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He was predeceased by: his father Jack Boren Dunlap; and his parents-in-law, Nancy and Hayes Ratledge. He is survived by: his mother Mary Sue Madewell Dunlap; his wife Charlotte "Sue" Ratledge Dunlap; his daughters, Allyson Dunlap Shortall (Matt Shortall) and Kelly Brooks Dunlap; and his brother Mark Dunlap (Cindy). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, extended family members, and lifelong friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Crystal Coast Civic Center (203 College Cir, Morehead City, NC 28557).
